Classic New Zealand Wine Trail
Meals
If you appreciate fine cuisine matched with superb wine, New Zealand’s talented chefs and an abundance of fresh ingredients will tempt and reward you.
New Zealand's seafood cuisine is legendary, while fresh and delicious produce, beef and lamb, and our innovative “Pacific Rim” style of cooking ensure all tastes are catered for. Relaxed is another word generously applied to cooking and eating in New Zealand, and whenever the weather allows, customers are encouraged to eat al fresco with many restaurants providing tables on the terrace or in the garden.
The Cycle Turismo team have been sampling and eating our way around New Zealand for years, fuelling ourselves for the next day's cycling effort! We’ve created our cycle tour itineraries with two things in mind: great cycling and great food. That’s why our tours follow, in part, the Classic New Zealand Wine Trial (http://www.classicwinetrail.co.nz). It also doesn’t hurt that great wine producing regions also have suburb summer weather!
Here is a flavour of some of the places we'll visit for lunch or dinner:

Mission Estate
Mission Estate is the birthplace of New Zealand wine, when the founders built the first winery in Hawke's Bay in 1851.
Housed in an elegantly restored historic seminary building the ever-popular award-winning Mission Restaurant offers diners exquisite cuisine. Excellent service, quality seasonal produce and award-winning wines combine to create a memorable experience. With only the freshest local produce used, the style of cuisine is contemporary with definite European influence. Mission Estate wines are offered exclusively on the wine list, and the waiting staff are well briefed to provide the best wine match option for each dish on the menu.
The Restaurant enjoys sweeping views of Napier city and the coast beyond. Beautiful by day and spectacular by night, the vista is unparalleled in Hawke’s Bay. Visitors are encouraged to wander through the beautifully manicured lawns and garden and soak up the ambiance of the estate, which makes the Mission a unique and special destination.

Church Road Winery
Church Road is one of the oldest in Hawke's Bay, founded in 1897. Their wines have earned a glowing reputation, becoming one of the most sought-after names in New Zealand restaurants.
After a sumptuous lunch platter of local meats and produce, cheeses and crackers; you can take a guided tour through our working winery (where you may see our winemakers in action) and New Zealand's first wine museum, and then enjoy a tasting of their extenstive range of wines.
The wine museum is housed underground in old concrete wine vats. The walls are encrusted with sparkling, gem-like tartrate crystals, formed from the tartaric acid in the wine once stored here. The oldest winemaking relics in the country lie entombed here, some dating back 3000 years
